Keltie Knight, a prominent television host and podcaster, has openly shared her experiences surrounding aesthetic surgery and mental health struggles in an essay for *Glamour*. The 44-year-old American broadcaster detailed her personal journey, which culminated in a facelift at the age of 41. Knight, who has been scrutinised by society’s demanding beauty standards, discussed the emotional and physical toll of her decision in a candid narrative.

In her article, Knight shared that her surgery was unexpectedly prolonged, lasting nearly nine hours instead of the anticipated three or four. This significant increase in time was due to considerable scar tissue developed from previous cosmetic procedures, including fillers and microneedling. She recounted, “When Dr. Diamond pulled back my face, there was so much scar tissue… it was basically frying my face underneath.” Despite the complications and cost associated with the surgery, Knight expressed that the facelift remains one of the best choices she has made for herself.
Knight’s journey with cosmetic enhancements began earlier when, at 35, she underwent a minimally invasive neck lift in an attempt to address changes associated with ageing. However, as the years progressed, her desire to meet Hollywood’s rigorous beauty expectations compelled her to consider a facelift.

Her decision to pursue cosmetic surgery was made amidst a personal health crisis as she battled a blood disease, which ultimately required a hysterectomy in early 2024. Reflecting on her choices, Knight admitted feeling disgusted for prioritising her appearance over treatment for her medical condition. “I was disgusted with myself. It was like, I want to die because of my uterine condition, but I’m going to fix my face first,” she revealed.
Public scrutiny only intensified Knight’s insecurities, with critics targeting her appearance online. She recalled facing harsh remarks from internet trolls, including ridicule about her facial features. “Even though I know the internet isn’t the final word on anything, there are only so many times you can hear that about yourself and then confirm it with your own eyes in the edit bay,” she explained. Such comments contributed to a deteriorating self-image, particularly as she compared herself to a roster of glamorous public figures.
In an effort to combat the pressure to conform to beauty ideals, Knight even resorted to manipulating her weight to qualify for a prescription weight-loss medication, GLP-1, though she no longer uses it and has maintained a modest loss of weight since. She expressed the pervasive challenge of being a woman in the public eye, caught in the never-ending pursuit of societal acceptance.
As a counter to the judgemental attitudes surrounding cosmetic procedures, Knight emphasised the importance of embracing personal choices and decisions. In her upcoming book, *The F*ck Them Theory: Self-Help for People Who Are Done Being the Bigger Person*, she articulates her views on self-empowerment, advocating for individuals to take ownership of their decisions regarding cosmetic enhancements. “What if it’s good to admit you got a f***ing facelift at 41? What if that actually is freeing?” she posed, encouraging women to move beyond shame in making such choices.
Knight’s revelation about her facelift initially surfaced during an April episode of *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills*. In a candid conversation with fellow cast member Dorit Kemsley, she discussed the procedure, which Knight later reaffirmed in an Instagram post. The complete narrative of her journey, along with behind-the-scenes imagery from her surgery and recovery, will feature in her forthcoming book, slated for release on 17 November.
Through her honest reflection, Keltie Knight aims to inspire others grappling with similar pressures, challenging the stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery. Her story underscores an ongoing conversation about the expectations placed on women and the difficult balance between personal health and societal beauty standards.
