Thames Valley Police have expanded their investigation into former Prince Andrew, who was arrested earlier this year on allegations of misconduct in public office. This inquiry centres around claims that he shared privileged information with financier Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s trade envoy. Following his arrest on February 19 at Sandringham, Andrew was held for approximately 11 hours before being released.

In a recent update, dated May 22, police revealed they are also looking into reports regarding a woman who allegedly was taken to a Windsor address for sexual purposes in 2010. This adds a troubling dimension to the investigation, which has gained significant public interest since it involves a figure of Andrew’s stature.

Reports surfaced earlier this year claiming that another woman had come forward alleging that she was sent to the UK by Epstein to engage in sexual activities with Andrew. This development has further compounded the serious nature of the allegations against him. The former Prince, who has vehemently denied any misconduct, is facing increasing scrutiny as the investigation unfolds.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK, an individual can be convicted for misconduct in public office if they misuse their role to engage in inappropriate relationships. This law suggests that the parameters of the investigation could encompass a range of behaviours linked to Andrew’s public duties.
In their media statement, Thames Valley Police highlighted their ongoing collaboration with the United States Department of Justice, seeking additional information pertinent to the case. They are also liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service to gather investigative advice, reflecting the complexity and seriousness of this inquiry.
Additionally, the police confirm they are communicating with various witnesses; however, they are unable to disclose identities due to national guidelines. As part of this investigation, the police have extended their invitation to any potential witnesses or those with relevant information to come forward.
Legal counsel for one of the women involved, Brad Edwards, has voiced concerns, stating that at least one victim was dispatched to meet Andrew by Epstein. Edwards has revealed that the unnamed woman, who was in her twenties at the time, was reportedly entertained at Andrew’s home, Royal Lodge, and had even toured Buckingham Palace afterward.
The allegations expand on those previously made by Virginia Giuffre, another Epstein accuser who claimed she was trafficked to London for sex with Andrew when she was just 17. Giuffre tragically passed away in April 2025, but prior to her death, her legal proceedings with Andrew had concluded with a settlement in 2022. Despite this, Andrew’s assertions of innocence regarding Giuffre’s claims remain steadfast.
In their press release, Thames Valley Police assured that they would handle any potential reports from the female witness with utmost sensitivity and respect for her privacy, emphasising the importance of her right to remain anonymous under UK law. The police have acknowledged the difficulties associated with coming forward about such personal experiences and reiterated their commitment to engage with any victims on their terms.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright of Thames Valley Police stated that this investigation into misconduct in public office is intricate and ongoing. He added that their team, composed of experienced detectives, is diligently considering a vast amount of information received from the public and other sources.
The ramifications of this case are far-reaching, with Andrew already having faced significant consequences in his personal and public life. In October 2025, his brother, King Charles, removed Andrew’s royal titles amid increasing scrutiny surrounding his connections with Epstein. The investigation continues to draw attention as it progresses, with many closely following the developments in what is becoming one of the most notable cases involving a member of the British royal family in recent history.
