Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled a new design element to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary, with the Carnival Legend becoming the first ship in the fleet to feature a distinctive bow crest. This new addition, entitled “From Sea to Shining Sea,” was revealed after the vessel emerged from a 16-day dry dock, where it underwent necessary repairs and updates.

The Carnival Legend, an 88,500-gross-ton ship, showcased its newly designed bow crest just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Inspired by the classic song “America the Beautiful,” the crest pays tribute to the nation’s varied landscapes, emphasising the beauty of both land and sea. Over time, this design will be integrated across Carnival’s U.S. fleet, with the exception of the Carnival Jubilee and the soon-to-be-launched Carnival Tropicale, which will maintain their Texas-themed bows.

Carnival has announced that the next ship to don the new crest will be the Carnival Magic, which is set to return to PortMiami from its dry dock on May 26. As part of the company’s festive plans, the introduction of the new design coincides with a series of patriotic events that Carnival will host fleetwide from June 4 to July 4. These festivities will include various activities such as trivia games, crafts, and gatherings for guests to enjoy fireworks displays on both coasts in celebration of Independence Day.
In a heartfelt gesture, Carnival arranged for veterans from the Miami Veterans Affairs Healthcare System to attend the unveiling of the new crest. During this event, the veterans were presented with special America250 challenge coins as a tribute to their service. This initiative highlights Carnival’s commitment to honouring and celebrating the contributions of those who have served in the military.
Following its launch of the new design, the Carnival Legend is scheduled to embark on a four-day round-trip cruise from Miami to the Bahamas on May 20. The itinerary includes stops at Nassau and Carnival’s exclusive Half Moon Cay before the ship returns to Florida on May 24. In addition to this short trip, the Legend will set off on a repositioning cruise to Dover, England, where it will commence a European season with departures from both Dover and Rome.
Carnival Legend has been a beloved member of the fleet since it first commenced operations in 2002. The ship features a total of 1,062 staterooms and can accommodate upwards of 2,680 passengers along with a dedicated crew of around 930. This commitment to providing quality accommodation and service is part of Carnival’s broader aim to enhance the cruising experience for all its guests.
As the company continues to roll out the new bow crest design, it is expected that the “From Sea to Shining Sea” theme will become an iconic representation of Carnival’s commitment to celebrating American heritage and values. With this initiative, Carnival seeks to create a festive atmosphere during the summer, fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among its guests.
Carnival Cruise Line’s celebrations do not merely end with the launch of the new crest. The company is dedicated to ensuring that each guest experiences the joy of national pride through various activities planned across its fleet. By incorporating elements that resonate with the spirit of celebration, Carnival aims to create memorable experiences for its guests throughout the coming months.
With a strong focus on community engagement and celebration, Carnival continues to strengthen its ties with both its passengers and wider society. As the summer approaches and the anniversary of America’s founding draws near, Carnival Cruise Line is poised to offer an unforgettable array of experiences aboard its ships.
