The announcement was made on 15 May, with park officials revealing striking updates to the attraction’s exterior. These improvements showcase a vibrant array of psychedelic paint designs adorning the iconic guitar and car marquees. However, the highlight for many fans is undoubtedly the innovative audio-animatronic representation of Scooter, which has been meticulously crafted using state-of-the-art motion capture technology.

The process involved recording Scooter’s movements, allowing Imagineers to accurately replicate his physical characteristics and expressive gestures. This technology ensures that guests will experience a lifelike interaction, as Scooter attempts to persuade his bandmates from The Electric Mayhem to finish their jamming session before the concert begins.
In addition to Scooter, the ride will feature charming audio-animatronic penguins working as sound engineers behind the studio’s control board, adding to the whimsical atmosphere of the attraction. The revitalised rock-and-roll experience immerses visitors in the high-energy world of music production, enhanced by engaging storytelling and advanced animatronics.
As part of the refurbishment, the courtyard area has also received a significant overhaul. The new retail location, Rock Around the Shop, will offer a variety of merchandise, including themed apparel and souvenirs designed to reflect the playful spirit of the ride. Food lovers can look forward to a new culinary experience at FØØD by Swedish Chef, where they can indulge in imaginative treats inspired by The Electric Mayhem, including the Churro Drumstick and Wocka Wocking Nachos.
Musical highlights within the ride will feature a selection of tracks from The Electric Mayhem’s extensive repertoire. Guests will be treated to an array of tunes, such as “Song 2,” “Born to Be Wild” featuring Camilla the Chicken, and collaborations with renowned artists including Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson. This eclectic mix promises to enhance the excitement of the roller coaster, ensuring riders are fully immersed in an unforgettable experience.
Moreover, the updated attraction has garnered attention from notable celebrities, with various cameos enriching the queue experience. Visitors will be on the lookout for appearances by stars like Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, and Neil Patrick Harris, among others. This added layer of celebrity engagement seeks to elevate the thrill of visiting the attraction while providing fans with interactive moments that deepen their connection to the Muppets’ universe.
The reopening of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster represents a significant change for the park, particularly as it marks the end of the original version that had operated since its debut in 1999. Previously themed around Aerosmith, the attraction featured a powerful sound system that played the rock band’s hits. However, following the decision to close the ride in March, Disney swiftly began the rebranding process, promising an exciting new chapter for this beloved theme park experience.
The anticipated reopening on 26 May promises to be an event filled with joy and enthusiasm, not just for devoted fans of the Muppets, but for all those seeking a new thrill at Walt Disney World. With its cutting-edge technology, memorable musical collaboration, and charming character interactions, the reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is poised to deliver a unique adventure that highlights Disney’s innovative spirit while honouring its cherished history.
