Mom Allegedly Blamed 3 Kids for Dog’s Death and Told Them, ‘This Is the Last Straw,’ Before Abandoning Them at Hospital

A 58-year-old woman from Florida, Sandra Teague, has been charged with three counts of child neglect after allegedly abandoning her three teenage children at a hospital. This alarming incident occurred at the AdventHealth facility in Palm Coast on April 30, during which Teague reportedly expressed her frustration at her children over the death of one of their dogs.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the situation escalated when Teague’s 17-year-old son informed hospital staff that their mother had left them there, citing her distress. Alongside him were his siblings, aged 14 and 13, who corroborated the account of abandonment. The older teenager was reportedly wearing only socks and no shoes at the time of the incident.

The teens recounted that their mother had become “extremely upset” earlier that day, attributing the death of their pet to them. The FCSO stated in their report that when Teague became angry, she would often restrict entry to their home, leaving her children to sleep outside as frequently as every other day. However, this incident marked the first time she had dropped them off outside the home.

Witness accounts reveal that Teague had stated to her children, “This is the last straw,” before driving them to the hospital and instructing them to exit the vehicle. Following this, deputies were dispatched to the hospital, where they began to investigate the reported neglect.

Once authorities located Teague at her home, they expressed grave concerns over the living conditions and overall care of the children. Upon their arrival at her residence, deputies were met with a foul smell emanating from the front door area, and they observed considerable amounts of garbage and animal faeces throughout the property.

The investigation led to a search warrant being executed, which uncovered a shocking scene: 44 dogs, three pigs, a cat, and a snake were found living in the unsanitary environment, alongside several deceased animals in kennels. The local animal control agency intervened promptly to remove the animals from the premises, ensuring their health and safety.

Officials from the Florida Department of Children and Families were also alerted to the conditions in which the children were living. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the situation, stating, “No child should ever have to live in these disgusting conditions or be treated like this.” His remarks underline the concern for the welfare of the children involved.

Following her arrest, Sandra Teague was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is currently being held without the possibility of bond. The ongoing investigation by the FCSO suggests that further charges against her may be forthcoming as more details come to light.
