A 24-year-old employee at a Nordstrom store in White Plains, New York, has been accused of orchestrating an extensive theft scheme that reportedly resulted in the loss of over £200,000 worth of luxury beauty products and fragrances. Dominic Bascoe is alleged to have committed a series of thefts, utilising clear bags to conceal items before retrieving them from a loading area outside the store.

According to the police, the thefts took place over a four-month period, beginning in December 2022. Bascoe is charged with carrying out a total of 32 theft incidents, during which approximately 82 boxes of merchandise were taken. The items stolen included high-end products from notable brands such as Dior, as well as various luxury beauty creams.
The investigation commenced on March 18 when Nordstrom’s Asset Protection team raised concerns regarding potential internal thefts. Following their report, detectives, along with investigators from Nordstrom, reviewed surveillance footage and store records. Their findings indicated a clear pattern of theft tied to Bascoe, which dated back several months.
Law enforcement officials have described Bascoe’s alleged actions as part of a “sophisticated” internal theft operation, which involved strategically planning the removal of goods. He reportedly concealed the merchandise while still working at the store, then left it staged outside for later collection by himself using his personal vehicle.
As the investigation progressed, Bascoe reportedly began to stop attending work and attempted to evade police scrutiny. In a coordinated effort involving the Westchester County Police Real-Time Crime Centre, officers were able to track his vehicle.
On April 25, authorities executed a targeted traffic stop, resulting in Bascoe’s arrest. He was subsequently taken to the White Plains Police Headquarters where he was booked and processed in anticipation of an upcoming court appearance, as stated in a police press release.
White Plains Police Commissioner Wade C. Hardy expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort between the police and Nordstrom’s security team. In a statement, he emphasised the importance of safeguarding the local business community and ensuring that individuals who misuse their positions of trust face the consequences of their actions.
