Sweetgreen, the health-focused restaurant renowned for its fresh salads and grain bowls, has announced an ambitious expansion of its menu featuring wraps. This move has been described as the chain’s “biggest menu shift yet,” marking a significant evolution for the brand which debuted its new offerings following successful trials in major urban markets.

The new wrap range includes four unique flavours: Classic Chicken Caesar, Chicken Jalapeño Ranch, Cali Chicken Club, and the limited-time KBBQ Chicken wrap. Each wrap has been meticulously crafted with a focus on nutrition, using olive oil tortillas and delivering a protein-rich experience, with most wraps containing at least 40 grams of protein.

The Classic Chicken Caesar wraps together roasted chicken with parmesan crisps, shaved parmesan, garlic breadcrumbs, chopped romaine, and a zesty caesar dressing, enhanced by a touch of lemon juice. In contrast, the Chicken Jalapeño Ranch takes inspiration from traditional burritos, featuring roasted chicken complemented by white rice, corn salsa, white cheddar, pickled onions, and a fiery charred jalapeño ranch dressing.
Meanwhile, the Cali Chicken Club brings together roasted chicken, creamy avocado, crumbled bacon, ripe tomatoes, chopped romaine, and a garlic aioli, presenting a vibrant and satisfying meal option. The KBBQ Chicken wrap is particularly notable as a limited-time offering until August 11, showcasing a tantalising combination of roasted chicken, white rice, napa cabbage slaw, apple kimchi sauce, crispy onions, and KBBQ drizzle, creating a fusion of flavours.
These new wraps were tested extensively in locations such as New York, Los Angeles, and various cities across the Midwest, where they quickly gained popularity among customers. Sweetgreen’s testing period revealed that the wraps emerged as one of the most sought-after menu items, reflecting consumer demand for diverse and healthy options.
Available from Wednesday, May 6, the wraps are priced at under £15, catering to a growing market of health-conscious diners seeking convenience without compromising on nutrition. This latest introduction aligns with the broader trend within the restaurant industry, where quick-service chains are evolving their menus to meet the demands of a changing consumer landscape.
In a comparable vein, Panera Bread recently introduced its own innovative menu item, the Salad Stuffer. This creation, described as “your new favourite way to eat salads,” is essentially a bread bowl filled with salad ingredients. With two varieties available, the Steakhouse Salad Stuffer combines romaine and arugula with Farmhouse Ranch dressing, sliced steak, applewood smoked bacon, gorgonzola, pickled red onions, grape tomatoes, and onions, offering a hearty meal.
Alternatively, the Santa Fe Salad Stuffer presents romaine tossed in ranch dressing, adorned with grilled chicken, taco seasoning, roasted corn, feta cheese, sweet peppers, pickled red onions, fresh cilantro, and blue corn tortilla strips. Customers can also request that any salad on the menu be transformed into a Stuffer, allowing for a bespoke and crunchy dining experience.
Both Sweetgreen and Panera Bread’s new offerings showcase the ongoing innovation in the fast-casual dining sector, as companies strive to attract and retain customers by providing health-conscious and convenient meal options. Sweetgreen’s latest menu addition highlights its commitment to quality and flavour, while responding to the needs of its growing customer base.
As the popularity of wraps continues to soar, Sweetgreen aims to cement its position as a leader in the health-food market, fostering customer loyalty through its fresh and wholesome ingredients. The success of these wraps will likely be closely monitored as the company seeks to establish a new staple in its menu lineup, transforming traditional dining experiences for a modern audience.
