Three women tragically lost their lives following a multi-vehicle collision in St. Louis County, Missouri, on the night of May 1. Among the deceased was Jordyn “Lunar” Williams, an 18-year-old high school senior who had recently been awarded the title of prom queen, as well as the mother of two, Andrea Medina.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that the incident occurred on Lewis and Clarke Boulevard. A 2013 Cadillac SRX, driven by 20-year-old Devin Daugherty, collided with a 2020 Lexus RX350, causing the Lexus to veer into the oncoming traffic. A northbound 2013 Toyota Highlander subsequently struck the Lexus, resulting in its overturning. The Cadillac continued off the road, crashing into some trees.

The victims included 53-year-old Cherese Fisher, the driver of the Lexus, her niece Jordyn Williams, and Andrea Medina, the 28-year-old driver of the Highlander. The Ritenour School District confirmed Williams’s identity, highlighting her recent achievement as prom queen mere days before the accident. She was set to graduate from Ritenour High School in just a few weeks.
Family members described Andrea Medina as a loving and hardworking mother who was beginning to establish her life. Her brother, Juan, expressed heartbreak over her loss, emphasising her kind-hearted nature and dedication to her children.
The school community is grappling with the impact of Williams’s death, particularly after another tragedy struck the school just weeks earlier when fellow student Landon King was shot and killed outside a convenience store. Dr. Bruce Green, assistant superintendent of Ritenour High School, conveyed the community’s grief, noting the added weight of recent losses. Memorials for Williams have been erected both at the crash site and within the school grounds.
In contrast to the overwhelming sorrow, the legal aftermath of the incident is unfolding. Devin Daugherty is facing serious charges, including three counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, alongside one count of driving with a revoked or suspended licence. Daugherty is currently being held on a bond of $250,000 as investigations continue.
Local news outlets report that the community is coming together to support the families affected by this tragic event. Friends and relatives have expressed their sorrow and remembrance for the victims, with many sharing their memories and tributes on social media. The loss of the three women has resonated throughout the community, raising awareness of the dangers of reckless driving and the lasting impact of such tragedies.
As the investigation proceeds, the Ritenour School District has not yet released further comments regarding the incident or the support measures in place for grieving students and families. The outpouring of grief reflects not just the profound sadness of the victims’ families but also a collective mourning within the entire student body.
While the legal proceedings against Daugherty are awaited, this incident serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the unforeseen tragedies that can alter the course of many lives in an instant. The lives of Jordyn Williams, Andrea Medina, and Cherese Fisher are celebrated by those who knew and loved them, as the community strives to heal from this unspeakable loss.
