A 22-year-old man from New Jersey has been accused of stalking and burglary after allegedly following a woman to a hospital in Delaware and hiding in her car while she sought medical attention. Authorities have detailed the circumstances surrounding the incident, stating that Onukogu is believed to have tracked the woman, a complete stranger, over several locations before ultimately arriving at the emergency department. According to the Middletown Police Department, surveillance footage captured him entering the backseat of her parked car while she was receiving treatment.
The police reported that the woman had initially encountered Onukogu at a Wawa convenience store and gas station in New Jersey around two hours prior to the alleged stalking incident. It remains unclear what motivated Onukogu’s interest in the victim or the specific reason for her visit to the hospital.

Investigators have indicated that Onukogu recorded the woman without her consent at various locations before following her to Delaware. This behaviour has raised alarm given the violation of the woman’s privacy and the potential danger imposed by his actions.
Onukogu is charged with third-degree burglary and stalking, both of which are considered serious offences. Following his arrest, he was reported to have been taken into custody without any resistance. His case has garnered public attention due to the unsettling nature of the allegations, particularly as they involve unwanted attention and invasion of privacy.
Following his arrest, Onukogu was released on bail set at $5,000. However, it has yet to be disclosed whether he has made a formal plea or secured legal representation to speak on his behalf during the proceedings.
The Middletown community is still coming to terms with the incident, which has highlighted the issues surrounding personal safety and the potential risks posed by unchecked behaviours. The police have urged any individuals who may have noticed suspicious activity or have had similar experiences to come forward and report them.
In response to the growing concern over safety and privacy, local authorities are re-evaluating measures aimed at protecting citizens from such predatory behaviours. This case underscores the importance of vigilance in public spaces and the need for effective intervention against stalking and harassment.
As the investigation continues, the legal process will unfold, with Onukogu facing potential consequences aimed at serving justice for the victim and deterring similar criminal behaviour in the future. The community’s response and engagement in discussions on safety are essential as this case progresses.
