The incident unfolded at around 1:30 AM local time in the suburb of Rosemeadow, where emergency services arrived to find a crime scene of devastating proportions. The victims, identified as Zhou Chao Feng, 65, Ruvena Lam, 64, and their son Justin Feng, 25, were discovered with serious injuries. While Zhou and Justin were found deceased at the scene, Ruvena succumbed to her injuries shortly after being taken to the hospital.

The police have charged a 32-year-old man, Jacky Feng, in connection to the attack, bringing multiple charges including three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Jacky Feng, the son of Zhou Chao Feng and Ruvena Lam, and the brother of the deceased Justin, was arrested around 2:30 AM after arriving at the scene in a silver sedan.

Campbelltown City Police Area Command Superintendent Grant Healey provided details about the heartbreaking scene in a press conference. First responders initially attempted to revive Zhou, who was the first victim encountered by police. Further investigations revealed Ruvena’s injuries and Justin’s body located in a separate flat at the rear of the property.
Authorities suspect that more than one weapon may have been employed during the attack, including a bladed instrument. Healey emphasised that the family was not known to police for any previous domestic violence incidents, which adds a layer of complexity to this already tragic event. “It was a very tragic incident, but there was no way for us to predict this,” he commented.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. Investigators are keen to piece together the events leading up to the violent outburst that shocked the local community.
Jacky Feng has been refused bail and is expected to appear in court later this week. As the legal proceedings begin, the community is left grappling with the implications of such a devastating act of violence within a family unit.
This incident highlights broader concerns about domestic violence and mental health issues, raising questions about how such tragedies can be prevented in the future. The community is mourning the loss of life and grappling with the complexities of familial relationships.
Further enquiries are ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information relating to the case to come forward as they continue their investigation into this horrific crime. The loss felt by the family and friends of the victims is immeasurable, and support services will likely be made available to assist those affected by this unfathomable tragedy.
