Cecily Strong, the former star of Saturday Night Live, has recently entered an exciting new chapter in her life. The actress welcomed her first child, a daughter, on 2 April 2025, with her fiancé, Jack MacGregor. Strong, who has been enjoying motherhood, recently shared her reflections on this journey during the Broadway opening night of *Schmigadoon!*.

Speaking to *People* magazine, the 42-year-old comedian expressed her joy as she learns more about her child. “I’m excited getting to know her a little more every day,” she remarked. The proud mother noted that while her daughter is still too young to talk, she eagerly anticipates hearing her words in the future.
In a heartfelt Instagram post from November 2024, Strong opened up about her experience with fertility. She recounted her own poignant journey by reflecting on a past sketch from SNL. “A couple of years ago, I did a piece on SNL as Goober the Clown, who had an abortion the day before her 23rd birthday. I’m happy to report that same clown is now very happily pregnant from IVF at 40,” she wrote, illustrating her transition into motherhood.
Strong concluded her tenure on SNL in December 2022, after making history as the show’s longest-serving female cast member. Over her 11 seasons on the iconic sketch show, she created memorable characters, including the beloved Cathy Anne on *Weekend Update* and feisty political commentator Jeanine Pirro.
Despite her successful career, Strong has chosen to maintain a healthy distance from her former workplace. During an appearance on *Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen*, she admitted that watching current SNL episodes would overwhelm her with emotions. “It’s just such a big part of my life, and there are so many people that I love there. I feel like I would just be in a swamp of sadness, my heart would break,” she explained, underscoring the profound impact the show had on her life.
In addition to her role as a mother, Strong is involved in the theatre. She stars in the newly adapted Broadway version of *Schmigadoon!*, which is based on the first season of the hit Apple TV+ series. In the stage rendition, Strong takes on a role originally portrayed by Sara Chase, playing Melissa Gimble.
*Schmigadoon!* follows the adventures of a couple who inadvertently stumble upon a whimsical town where every day feels like a vibrant musical, and the only way to escape is by discovering “true love”. Reflecting on her experience in the show, Strong expressed her enthusiasm for both the production and her colleagues. “I’m so happy for them. I’m so thrilled for Cinco [Paul, the music writer], and [director] Chris Gatelli is a genius,” she declared, demonstrating her excitement to witness the show again in a new light.
As Strong navigates her dual role as a new mother and a performer on Broadway, fans can expect her to continue bringing her unique blend of humour and heart to all her projects. Balancing personal and professional life, Strong seems not only to thrive but also to inspire others with her journey, reminding everyone of the joys and challenges that come with motherhood and the pursuit of one’s passion.
