The incident occurred when Spencer’s 1998 Chevrolet Camaro collided with a 2025 Hyundai SUV at approximately 9:15 AM. While the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries, they opted not to seek medical treatment at the scene. Following the crash, Spencer left on foot near Cedar Creek Court and Expressview Drive, prompting an extensive search operation, particularly in the eastern parts of Jefferson City and Cole County.

Spencer’s family, including his brother Ethan, has been deeply affected by his sudden disappearance. Ethan described Nathan as a “really good kid” and emphasised that this behaviour is uncharacteristic of him. “It’s been very emotional and it’s been hard, but I’m not giving up,” Ethan stated, highlighting the family’s ongoing efforts to find their loved one. The emotional toll on the family has been profound, with Ethan noting the sleepless nights filled with worry for Nathan’s safety.
Authorities are particularly concerned for Nathan’s welfare, as he has autism and may have experienced a mental health episode around the time of his disappearance. His mother corroborated this, adding an additional layer of urgency to the search. Nathan is described as being 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 230 lbs, with a red beard and collar-length red hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, a black jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, jeans, and black shoes.
The search efforts have seen the involvement of not only family and friends but also volunteers from the community who have joined in the efforts. They have been canvasing the areas around the crash site, determined to find any leads that might assist police in locating Nathan. In a statement, police emphasised the importance of community assistance in their search, urging anyone with information about Nathan’s whereabouts to reach out to them.
“My brother is really smart and he’s driven,” Ethan noted, while expressing hope for Nathan’s return. “He’s got a big heart,” he added, mourning the distressing time the family has been enduring since his brother’s absence. The emotional strain of such an unpredictable situation has left the family in a state of constant worry, forcing them to remain hopeful as they await any news.
As the search continues, the local authorities remain vigilant. The Jefferson City Police Department is encouraging the community to assist in locating Nathan by sharing any pertinent information they may have. Those who think they might have seen Nathan or have any information concerning his whereabouts are urged to contact the police department at 573-634-6400.
