In a recent Instagram video shared on 28 April, Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson offered her followers a spirited review of several Japanese McDonald’s menu items while on location in Japan. The 36-year-old star of “Room” and “Captain Marvel” delighted fans with her “spring edition” food haul, which she presented from a dressing room, showcasing her enthusiasm for fast food from the global chain.

Throughout the video, Larson sampled an array of unique offerings from the Japanese McDonald’s menu, highlighting items like the Teritama burger, Shaka Shaka chicken, and intriguing pizza-flavoured fries. Her vibrant commentary not only entertained but also provided a glimpse into the cultural differences that set Japan’s fast food dining experience apart from that in her home country.
Beginning her culinary tasting session, Larson introduced the Teritama burger, known for its layered combination of teriyaki sauce, egg, cheese, and lettuce. After taking a bite, she expressed her surprise at the taste, declaring it “extremely good” and awarding it a commendable nine out of ten “Party People punch bowls” on her self-created food score spectrum.
Following her success with the Teritama burger, Larson moved on to the Shaka Shaka chicken. With a touch of playful curiosity, she examined the crispy chicken before revealing the packet of cheddar cheese powder that came with the dish. After shaking the cheese onto the chicken, Larson described the flavour as “like magic… sweet and salty,” and rated it a modest seven and a half out of ten, noting it didn’t quite taste like cheddar.
And the adventures didn’t stop there. Larson then turned her attention to the fries, which she cleverly livened up by adding the pizza-flavoured seasoning. As she mixed the powder into the fries, she joked about the presentation, mentioning that the restaurant could have done it for her but was aware of the fun involved in doing it herself. Tasting her creation, she remarked on its aroma and flavour, ultimately scoring them eight and a half out of ten.
Finally, the actress indulged in a Sakuramochi strawberry pie, which drew her admiration for its thoughtful packaging. After savouring a bite, Larson pronounced it “so good” and bestowed a perfect score of ten, expressing her delight at the dessert’s taste.
Larson’s food-themed video comes on the heels of her recent cookbook release. Co-authored with friend Courtney McBroom, “Party People” was published in October 2025 and features a collection of recipes suited for various cooking abilities as well as practical advice for hosting successful gatherings. Larson has revealed plans for at least two more cookbooks, indicating a continued commitment to culinary exploration and sharing her passion for food.
With a vibrant personality and genuine enthusiasm for food, Larson’s recent Instagram post offers a unique lens through which fans can view both her as an actress and her experiences in Japan. As she continues to promote her cookbook and connect with followers, her culinary escapades provide a light-hearted yet insightful glimpse into how food can bridge cultural divides.
In addition to her culinary adventures, Larson’s engagement with her audience reflects her multifaceted career, balancing acting, writing, and personal expression. As she enjoys her time in Japan and delights in the local cuisine, her journey serves as a reminder of the joys of exploration and the universal appeal of good food.
