Hakeem Moulton, known for his role in “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise”, recently announced his engagement to his pregnant partner, Monica. This heartfelt moment unfolded during their appearance on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, which aired last Thursday.

The couple’s engagement proposal took an unexpected turn when Kathy Swarts, a fellow alum from “The Golden Bachelor”, encouraged Moulton to propose on the spot. Without hesitation, Swarts urged him, “I want you to listen carefully; let’s reframe this whole thing. Why don’t you, right now, get on one knee on this podcast and ask that beautiful woman to marry you.” Swarts’ insistence echoed throughout the podcast, leading to a touching exchange between Moulton and Monica.
Moulton revealed earlier in their discussion that he and Monica were already contemplating a marriage ceremony, initially suggesting a quick courthouse wedding as they prepare for the arrival of their baby. He expressed their shared desire to make the union official, stating, “We’re probably going to do a courthouse [ceremony] really quickly so she can go on my insurance.” However, Swarts wasn’t having any of it, pushing for a more romantic proposal, which eventually led Moulton to lean over and ask Monica, “Will you marry me?”

To the delight of everyone present, Monica joyfully responded, “I would love to,” prompting cheers and congratulations from Swarts and other guests on the podcast. Swarts beamed, recognising this as a historic moment for their show, saying, “You’re now officially engaged, congrats!”
Moulton shared his plans to propose in a more traditional manner, revealing that he is in the process of designing a custom engagement ring. He confirmed his intentions to incorporate diamonds from another ring of significance—one previously owned by Monica’s mother. “I’m getting kind of a ring put together for her,” Moulton explained. He acknowledged the sentimental value of repurposing the diamonds, stating, “I’ve actually given it to him, and I’ve said, ‘Use it how you want.’”
The couple, who announced their pregnancy on 1 April, showcased their excitement through a joint Instagram reel featuring a positive pregnancy test and friends celebrating a sonogram. Moulton cheekily wrote, “April fools or nah…? Baby coming October 2026 💙🩷,” indicating their anticipation for their first child.
On 6 April, the couple also shared a gender reveal video, where they removed a decorative topper from a bundt cake, revealing a pink baby shower rattle that confirmed they were expecting a girl. On the podcast, they disclosed the baby’s chosen name, “Marley Marie.”
Monica expressed the significance of their chosen names, explaining that “Marley” pays homage to legendary musician Bob Marley, reflecting her partner’s Jamaican heritage. She added that “Marie” holds personal meaning as a nod to her own middle name. Additionally, their daughter’s middle name, “Bliss,” is inspired by Moulton’s mother’s maiden name, further embedding family connections into the child’s identity.
Moulton’s proposal and the couple’s journey towards parenthood have captured the hearts of their fans, and many are eager to follow their story as they navigate these exciting new chapters in their lives. With the due date for baby Marley Marie set for October, it is clear that Moulton and Monica are embarking on a transformative journey filled with love and anticipation.
