A 40-year-old woman from Michigan faces serious charges, including assault with intent to murder and first-degree child abuse, following a disturbing incident involving her five-year-old daughter. Christina Kay Crow was arrested after her daughter was discovered with significant injuries in a wooded area behind their home in Thompsonville.

On the morning of April 20, deputies from the Benzie County Sheriff’s Office received a call requesting a welfare check for Crow at her residence on Lincoln Avenue. Sheriff Kyle Rosa reported that deputies arrived around 9:30 a.m. and initially aimed to confirm the well-being of both Crow and her child. Upon speaking with Crow, deputies learned that she claimed her daughter was visiting her grandmother in a different part of the state.
However, it was soon revealed through family members that the child’s grandmother did not have her, raising immediate concerns for her welfare. Following this alarming revelation, deputies began a search of the surrounding area and made a harrowing discovery.
The young girl was found huddled under a brown blanket in the cold woods behind the family home, suffering from severe injuries to her neck and face. Sheriff Rosa stated that the deputies acted on their instincts and followed every possible lead to ensure the child’s safety, which ultimately led to her rescue. “It turns out she wasn’t safe until we found her,” he remarked.
Conditions were particularly harsh at the time of the incident, with the temperature dropping to around 22 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in the girl being found in a state of hypothermia.
