Bennie, who is three years old, officially joined her older sisters Wyatt, aged six, and Elliotte, five, in the school system, while the youngest sibling, Finn, remains at home. Kylie openly admitted that, while Bennie is excited about this new chapter, she herself is struggling with the transition. “Three of my babies are now officially in school, and I don’t feel great about it,” she reflected, indicating the bittersweet nature of watching her children grow up.
The transition to preschool was particularly significant for Kylie, who explained that they had waited until after the spring break to enrol Bennie. “Our schedules were a little wonky, and also, I was being selfish. I wanted her to stay home with me,” she admitted. However, Bennie’s enthusiasm quickly became apparent, as Kylie revealed that the three-year-old had an upbeat first day. “She got out of the car and I said, ‘Bye, Bennie. I love you.’ And she went, ‘Love you.’ She didn’t turn around! She didn’t even turn around!” Kylie remembered, highlighting the abruptness of the farewell.
By day two, Bennie’s affection for her new environment was evident. Kylie shared that her daughter exclaimed, “I love to school. I love go to school. I’m really excited,” showcasing her readiness to embrace this fresh adventure. Yet, for Kylie, the joy was accompanied by a sense of loss, as she found herself continuously recounting the moment of Bennie’s departure. “I talked about it the entire day… she was there for three hours,” she said, underlining how deeply the transition affected her.
Despite her struggles, Kylie expressed happiness for Bennie, stating, “I’m so excited for her and so excited for her to be in school and enjoying herself.” However, she candidly added, “It still hurts my soul,” revealing the emotional complexity of parenting as children grow up and become more independent.
Interestingly, the change in the household has provided some newfound freedom for Kylie’s youngest daughter, Finn, who is 13 months old. With three siblings now at school, Finn is relishing her time alone at home. “Finn’s having the time of her life… she gets to walk around and just mess things up,” Kylie laughed, highlighting Finn’s newfound autonomy. Kylie painted a humorous picture as she described Finn’s delight in being able to play with her piano toy and read books without waiting for her turn. “It’s very exciting for her.
