Just two days prior, on Sunday, April 19, an explosion at a firecracker factory in Kattanarpatti, near Virudhunagar, resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people. Eyewitness accounts indicate that around forty people were present at the Kerala facility at the time of the explosion, many engaged in the assembly of firecrackers. Reports suggest that the force of the blast was so intense that it resulted in substantial damage to nearby houses, leading some local residents to mistakenly believe they were experiencing an earthquake.
