In the heartfelt message shared on the social media platform, Jabeur referred to Elyan as a “tiny miracle” and expressed a lifetime of love for their newborn. The couple showcased a touching photograph in which they lovingly held Elyan, surrounded by flowers, while he was contentedly swaddled in a blanket adorned with tennis rackets.
The announcement comes five months after Jabeur revealed her pregnancy in November 2025, a few months following her decision to take a break from professional tennis. At that time, she indicated that her return to the court would be postponed due to her impending motherhood. “Took a little break to reset and recharge,” she shared on Instagram, hinting at the delightful journey ahead. She added, “Turns out, we’ve been planning the cutest comeback ever,” alluding to both her upcoming role as a mother and her aspirations in tennis.

The couple, who have been married since 2015, have always maintained a strong bond, supporting each other’s careers. Kamoun, a fitness trainer and former professional fencer, has been a pivotal presence in Jabeur’s life, both personally and professionally.
Prior to her pregnancy, Jabeur was enjoying considerable success on the tennis circuit. In 2022, she made history by becoming the first Arab woman to reach the WTA No. 2 ranking, following an impressive year that included two Grand Slam final appearances. She reached the Wimbledon final, where she faced defeat against Elena Rybakina, and also competed in the US Open final, losing to Iga Świątek.

In 2023, Jabeur returned to the Wimbledon final but was bested by Marketa Vondrousova. Her career, however, was hindered by injuries, including a shoulder problem that led to her withdrawal from the US Open in 2024. After a challenging period filled with physical setbacks and emotional struggles on the court, she decided to step back from professional tennis in July 2025.
In her farewell post before the hiatus, Jabeur candidly expressed her feelings of dissatisfaction, stating, “For the past two years I’ve been pushing myself so hard, fighting through injuries and facing many other challenges. But deep down, I haven’t felt happy on court for some time now.” This period of introspection ultimately led her to embrace the joys of motherhood and the exciting changes that come with it.
Amidst her journey into parenthood, Jabeur’s commitment to her tennis career remains intact. Upon announcing her pregnancy, she indicated that this break would not be a farewell to the sport but rather a chance to start anew. The passion for tennis still runs deep, and she expressed her determination to return to competition after settling into her new role as a mother.
As Elay’s birth marks a new chapter in Jabeur’s life, fans and fellow athletes alike are eager to see how this shift will influence her tennis career. These developments raise anticipation for her eventual return to the court and whether the experience of motherhood will bring a fresh perspective to her game.
With a remarkable career already behind her and a promising journey ahead, Ons Jabeur is set to continue inspiring many—both as an athlete and now as a mother.
