In a surprising revelation, Kayti Edwards, the actress and step-granddaughter of the iconic Julie Andrews, has confirmed that her 15-year-old daughter, Ever, is the daughter of Elijah Blue Allman, the son of music legend Cher. During a candid interview with The Sun, Edwards disclosed that Ever was under the impression that Allman was merely a family friend until she informed her of the truth last month.

Edwards explained that despite Allman’s desire to establish a relationship with Ever, he has faced significant personal challenges, making it difficult for him to be a consistent presence in her life. “He wanted to see her and have a relationship with her, but he wasn’t in any fit state,” said Edwards. Her daughter had thought of Allman as just a friend, and thus the truth needed to be revealed delicately.

The 36-year-old former model, who now operates a horse rescue centre in California’s Joshua Tree, recounted how her brief romantic relationship with Allman in 2010 led to Ever’s conception. However, she noted that Allman never expressed an interest in being a parent. It wasn’t until after a serious incident in 2021 that Allman revealed to his estranged wife that he had a daughter, sparking speculation among the family.
According to Edwards, it was only last June that Cher reached out to her for clarification regarding the situation. “Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess,” she revealed. The interaction left Cher speechless, having been unaware of the full circumstances surrounding her son’s life and parenthood.
Cher, now 79, has been slowly navigating her new role as Ever’s grandmother. Edwards remarked that Cher has made an effort to connect, even inviting them to her Malibu residence for a stay last September. Describing the encounter as warm and engaging, Edwards noted, “She was lovely and kind, and we had dinner. Cher was very childlike.” During the visit, Cher took time to talk to Ever about school and her interests, further indicating her willingness to build a relationship.
The relationship with Cher appears to be evolving positively. Edwards mentioned that Cher has sent gifts for Ever’s birthdays and made consistent efforts to stay in contact. “Cher really is trying. It’s an adjustment, and I’m not pushing any relationship. It has to come naturally,” she stated, expressing cautious optimism about their developing bond.
However, at the same time, complications have arisen in Allman’s life. Recent reports indicate that Cher has filed for a temporary conservatorship for her son amidst ongoing struggles with addiction and mental health issues. This marks Cher’s second attempt to secure a conservatorship for Allman in three years, highlighting the seriousness of his situation. In her latest filing, Cher described Allman as “gravely disabled” and unable to manage financial resources due to his state.
Cher’s concerns have been echoed by Allman’s half-brother, Devon, who voiced similar worries about Elijah’s safety and capacity to manage his life. Their family’s struggles with addiction have weighed heavily on everyone involved.
In related incidents, Allman’s interactions with the law have raised additional concerns. In March, he was arrested on two occasions in New Hampshire, with one arrest linked to a disturbance at a local prep school, further underscoring his precarious situation.
Elijah Blue Allman is scheduled to appear in court for hearings concerning both his legal troubles and the proposed conservatorship. With multiple challenges ahead, the road to recovery for Allman seems steep. Meanwhile, Edwards remains focused on creating a supportive environment for Ever as they navigate familial dynamics and the complexities of their newfound relationships.
