Her family initially informed the public of her passing on April 12, sharing that she had been enjoying an idyllic holiday only days before her untimely death, celebrating her 31st birthday and her recent engagement.

Further complicating the investigation, reports indicate that Robinson and McCann had been separated into different rooms at their accommodation following a “misunderstanding” prior to her death. This information was disclosed by the Tanzania Police Force in a statement released on April 14, which noted that the couple had been subjected to this separation “for the safety of each other.” It’s been confirmed that McCann is being treated as a witness in this case and no arrests have yet been made.

Robinson’s mother, Yolanda Denise Endres, recounted a call she received from her daughter during the trip. On April 8, Ashly had informed her that she and McCann had been moved to separate rooms after an argument. The following day, Endres received alarming news from McCann who said Ashly had “done something to herself” and was being taken to hospital. Endres expressed her sadness at learning the incident had occurred approximately 11 hours prior to her being informed.
