Guy Fieri, the well-known Food Network personality, has come under fire after being photographed interacting with controversial figures Andrew and Tristan Tate at a recent UFC event in Miami. The incident occurred during UFC 327 on Saturday, 11 April, where Fieri was seen shaking hands with the brothers, who are currently facing serious criminal charges, including alleged sexual assault and human trafficking.

The encounter sparked considerable backlash on social media, with numerous users expressing their disappointment towards Fieri for associating with the Tates. To clarify his position, Fieri released a statement on Tuesday, 14 April, strongly asserting that he does not know the Tate brothers. In his message on X, formerly known as Twitter, he stated, “I’m seeing all of your comments about the photo from Saturday’s UFC event and all I can say is that I’m devastated.”
Fieri elaborated that he was present solely for the fight, and his interaction with the Tates was unexpected. “I did not know them or about them before that moment,” he explained, emphasising that the greeting was purely coincidental. He concluded his statement by firmly distancing himself from the brothers: “Let me be crystal clear, I do not know the Tate brothers nor do I support them in any way.”
Following the fallout from this incident, a planned media appearance by Fieri was cancelled. He was set to attend an event for Waterloo Sparkling Water, celebrating his partnership with the brand; however, the event has since been called off.
The Tate brothers, prominent figures in the “manosphere,” are notorious for their promotion of toxic masculinity and have amassed millions of followers online. Their content frequently features misogynistic views, hate speech, and lavish displays of wealth. Andrew Tate, in particular, has faced intense scrutiny for remarks suggesting that women “belong” to men and implying that they are partially to blame for sexual violence. Their online presence has drawn widespread criticism from various corners of society.
Both Andrew and Tristan are currently entangled in serious legal issues, facing a total of 21 charges, including rape and human trafficking, which they have denied. They were arrested in Romania in December 2022 in connection with these allegations and remained in custody until March 2023, when they were placed under house arrest. By June 2023, formal charges were brought against them, with Andrew facing accusations of rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal group to exploit women, while Tristan was charged with human trafficking and incitement of violence.
The saga took another turn in March 2024, when the brothers were arrested again in Romania on a UK warrant concerning allegations of “sexual aggression” related to incidents reported to have occurred between 2012 and 2015. Four women accused Andrew of sexual violence and abuse. Although authorities did not pursue charges at the time, these women initiated a crowdfunding campaign to cover costs for a civil lawsuit against him.
In response to these allegations, a spokesperson for the brothers insisted that they “unequivocally deny all allegations,” condemning what they perceive as an exploitative misuse of the legal system. Following their release from house arrest, the Tates have been active in legal challenges, including a defamation lawsuit against accusations made against them.
