The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged 31-year-old Marshall Campbell Judson with three counts of murder in relation to the incident, which took place on 1 April. According to a statement from the District Attorney’s office, Judson was initially involved in a domestic violence call attended by officers from the Pomona Police Department. He is said to have returned to the scene, driving aggressively past patrol cars, creating a chaotic situation.

During the encounter, Judson allegedly reversed into one of the police vehicles, missing an officer and the domestic violence caller by mere inches. Following this confrontation, he reportedly sped off through a residential area at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, despite the posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour.

Tragically, during his flight, Judson struck the vehicle driven by Trejo Saldivar while Loera Zarco was seated beside him. The impact was devastating, resulting in the immediate deaths of both victims. Loera Zarco was only days away from her due date, with her baby boy expected to arrive on 20 April.
Judson was apprehended at the scene of the crash, where authorities allegedly discovered an unlicensed firearm in his vehicle. In addition to the murder charges, he faces several other serious charges, including three counts of fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s vehicle, resulting in death, one count of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, and one count for carrying a concealed and loaded firearm that was not registered.
As the investigation continues, it remains unclear whether Judson has entered a plea regarding the charges levelled against him. The case is expected to draw significant attention as it highlights the tragic consequences of reckless driving and the potential dangers posed by fleeing suspects.
In the wake of their loss, Trejo’s family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses. The organiser of the fundraising effort recounted the couple’s character, describing Trejo as “a kind, loving and genuine person” and Loera Zarco as “just as special, full of love, warmth, and kindness.” Both individuals were noted for their aspirations of building a family together and their excitement about the arrival of their child.
The community has rallied in support of the grieving family, reflecting on the couple’s legacy and the profound impact they had on those around them. As details of the case unfold in the coming weeks, many will be watching closely, hoping for justice for the young couple and their unborn child.
