Having begun her journey into IVF after contemplating her biological clock as she neared her mid-thirties, Webb shared her concerns about the ticking timeline for motherhood. “I didn’t see my dating life going anywhere and became more worried about my biological clock,” she explained. Living in a small town where dating prospects felt limited, she opted to take control of her future by pursuing motherhood on her own terms.
The logistical challenges of IVF have further complicated Webb’s journey. With no local fertility clinic readily available, she found herself travelling considerable distances for necessary procedures. “For my egg retrieval, I had to take stimulation injections, which weren’t so awful, but I had to travel for bloodwork and ultrasounds, which was quite time-consuming,” she recounted.
As part of the IVF process, Webb is currently in the process of creating embryos with the help of a sperm donor. Determined to make the experience more enjoyable, she transformed the often somber decision of choosing a donor into a festive gathering. “There are banks all over the country, making it hard to narrow down my choices,” she recalled. Ultimately, she settled on a dozen candidates and engaged her friends to help select the most suitable donor through a voting process.
The focus of the celebration was not only on fun but also on serious decision-making. Each attendee filled out scorecards and engaged in thorough discussions about each potential donor’s background, health history, and even personal stories. Webb had prepared a detailed presentation, complete with music and images, to guide her guests through the choices.

Webb noted that there was a mutual consensus on a select few donors, which streamlined the decision-making process. “Some things I loved about my top two were impeccable personal and family health histories,” she shared, highlighting the importance of health in her selection criteria.

Although she appreciates the complexities and uncertainties that the IVF process may entail, she remains hopeful. “If I’m fortunate enough to have at least one healthy embryo, I will do an embryo transfer and hopefully become pregnant,” she expressed, clearly determined to embrace the adventure ahead.
As someone familiar with the nuances of birthing and breastfeeding, Webb considers motherhood to be her greatest aspiration. “I feel really supported by my community and am prepared to become a mother,” she said, expressing her excitement for the journey ahead. Whether her future child is a son or daughter, she is resolute in her commitment to ensure they are filled with love. “Caring for babies and children has always come naturally for me, so if anybody can do this alone, it’s me!”
