Their mother, Megan Saxton, recounted that her sons initially believed they had found a mere rock. At first glance, Saxton expressed disbelief that the skull could belong to a human, stating that she thought it resembled a turtle shell. Upon arrival, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) confirmed that the skull and subsequent bones were indeed human. Authorities conducted further investigations in the area around the creek and ultimately uncovered as many as 50 additional bones, believed to belong to a single individual.

Greg Shore, the Anderson County Coroner, indicated that the remains may have been on the site for a period ranging from five to ten years. To aid in the investigation, an anthropologist is expected to offer insights regarding the bones’ gender and age range in the near future, which could provide more context for the ongoing inquiry.
