**Georgia Man Sentenced to Life for Wife’s Murder and Attempted Murder of Stepson**

In a harrowing case that has underscored the issue of domestic violence, Kelvin Demond Williams has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, in addition to an extra 100 years and 12 months. The 48-year-old was convicted on multiple charges, including malice murder and attempted murder, following the tragic death of his wife, Tenisha Williams, aged 48, in July 2025.
The verdict was announced by the Cherokee County Office of the District Attorney on March 27, 2025. Williams faced a total of 13 charges, encompassing felony murder, family violence aggravated assault, and cruelty to children in the first degree. His actions have not only led to the loss of a life but have also thrust the lives of his stepchildren into turmoil.
The fatal incident occurred on the evening of July 13, 2025. Prosecutors revealed that Tenisha was shot by her husband in their home located on Daventry Crossing in Woodstock, Cherokee County. During the harrowing moments preceding the shooting, Tenisha’s 16-year-old son called emergency services and informed the dispatcher that his stepfather had shot his mother and was threatening to shoot him as well.
As the teenager spoke to the 911 operator, he mentioned that his four-year-old brother was asleep in another room, highlighting the danger that the whole family faced during this tragic event. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found Williams standing inside the house near the garage entrance, reportedly smoking a cigarette. He was apprehended immediately.
Inside the home, officers discovered Tenisha’s body lying on the kitchen floor, while the firearm used for the shooting was located on the kitchen island, according to the district attorney’s statement. Disturbingly, security camera footage from within the house captured Williams’s actions, revealing that he first aimed at the teenage boy but missed. He then turned his gun on Tenisha, ultimately firing the shots that resulted in her death.
The video evidence depicted a chilling snapshot of the moments prior to the murder. At one point, Tenisha can be heard pleading with Williams not to shoot her. Following her desperate pleas, he was heard taunting her with the words, “You dead, [expletive]?” This shocking detail exemplifies the brutal nature of the domestic violence that unfolded that night.
Officials have described Williams’s controlling behaviour throughout the relationship, with Rachel Ashe from the District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Unit noting that he systematically isolated Tenisha and monitored her actions. In a disturbing turn of events, on the day of her death, Tenisha had purchased the firearm that would ultimately be used by her husband to end her life.
District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway expressed her hopes that the harsh sentence would resonate beyond the courtroom, stating, “This sends a clear message that Tenisha’s life mattered, and that the violence inflicted upon her was evil and inexcusable.” She underscored the court’s commitment to holding offenders accountable for their actions.
Following the trial, Williams’ legal representative, Angela Trethaway, conveyed her disappointment regarding the sentence, emphasising that they had hoped for a different outcome. She indicated that an appeal against the ruling is anticipated. Trethaway acknowledged the serious nature of the crimes for which Williams was convicted but maintained that the maximum sentencing was unjustified in this case.
