A Florida woman has been charged with felony criminal mischief following a disturbing incident at two separate Airbnb properties. Nicolette Keough, 31, from Pensacola, is alleged to have intentionally damaged various items by urinating on them and subsequently sharing videos of her actions on adult film websites.

The investigation began when an Airbnb owner filed a complaint after discovering that her property had been vandalised. This complaint was lodged with the Pensacola Police Department (PPD) on March 15, after the owner was informed about the disturbing actions of Keough. According to reports, the owner noticed a strong smell of urine during a follow-up inspection of the property, suggesting extensive damage had been caused.

Upon reviewing the video content uploaded by Keough, the property owner identified her as the individual who had filmed herself urinating on various items within the Airbnb. Among the affected belongings were several valuable possessions, including an antique Crown Royal chair, a coffee maker, a typewriter, and even a record player, all of which were rendered unsalvageable due to the damage incurred.
Local authorities stated that the total estimated cost of the destruction exceeded £3,000. Following this discovery, police approached Keough, leading to her arrest. PPD’s public information officer, Mike Wood, confirmed that Keough was allegedly seeking to profit from her actions by posting the videos online for monetary gain.
Keough later posted bail and has since been released. However, it remains unclear whether she has retained legal representation to assist her during the legal proceedings. The disturbing nature of the crime has drawn significant attention in the community and beyond.
In response to the incident, Airbnb issued a statement expressing their zero-tolerance stance towards such behaviour. A spokesperson for the platform confirmed that Keough had been banned from using their services and stated that they would provide assistance to the host through their AirCover damage protection program. This initiative aims to support Airbnb hosts when instances of property damage arise.
Airbnb representatives emphasised that incidents of property damage during stays are rare and reassured hosts of their commitment to support them. The company’s Community Support team operates around the clock to assist users, while the AirCover programme is designed to cover damages for every booking made through the platform.
This unsettling case has raised questions regarding tenant behaviour in short-term rental properties and the challenges hosts face in maintaining their properties. It highlights the importance of robust screening processes for guests and the pressing need for platforms like Airbnb to ensure the wellbeing of their hosts.
As investigations continue, residents of Pensacola are left to digest the recent developments, while authorities urge individuals to treat rental properties with respect to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
