In a recent episode of the ‘Las Culturistas’ podcast, Australian actress Nicole Kidman candidly shared a humorous yet relatable incident from her time filming ‘Big Little Lies’. Released on 11 March, the podcast provided a platform for the 58-year-old star to discuss her standards for on-set hygiene and, in particular, her experiences with kissing scenes.

During the discussion, Kidman revealed that fresh breath holds significant importance for her, especially when it comes to kissing her co-stars. A memorable moment arose with fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård, who had just indulged in a falafel sandwich before a pivotal kissing scene. Kidman playfully recounted her reaction, saying, “I’m like, ‘No, no, no, Alex. I’m meant to be into you and kissing you — put away the falafel now because the bad breath does not turn me on.’”
This light-hearted anecdote sheds light on Kidman’s perspective regarding the sensory aspects of acting. She emphasised that the taste and smell of a partner’s mouth are crucial for her during intimate scenes. “I’m sure [Skarsgård] did not eat a falafel ever again,” she added. “I said, ‘No more falafel. Not before you kiss, not before you make love.’”
Bad breath is a topic that many might shy away from discussing, but for Kidman, it’s a strong deal-breaker. The actress confessed, “I cannot stand bad breath. This is a deal-breaker for me. You could be the most gorgeous guy, and if you came at me with bad breath, I’m like, no.” She clarified her stance, asserting, “If I say, ‘Breathe on me,’ and I have to recoil, yikes, I’m out. You could not offer me enough money.”
Interestingly, Kidman noted that she found a silver lining in losing her sense of smell due to a bout of COVID-19. For her, this was a welcome relief, as she described her heightened sense of smell as often overwhelming. “Finally, I was free,” she commented, highlighting a rather unconventional benefit of the experience.
The podcast episode didn’t solely revolve around her kissing preferences; it also provided an opportunity for Kidman to address a variety of topics, including her interaction with other celebrities. When asked about the best-smelling public figure she had encountered, Kidman enthusiastically revealed that it was none other than pop icon Rihanna. She described the singer’s scent as “intoxicating,” expressing admiration by stating, “Like I will follow you around.”
In addition to her light-hearted disclosures, Kidman also opened up about her personal life, specifically her recent divorce from country musician Keith Urban. She confirmed that despite the challenges, she is trying to remain positive and focused on her family during this transition.
“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” Kidman remarked in an interview with Variety published on the same day. When asked about her current state after the split, she emphasised her gratitude for her family, stating, “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that.”
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban in September 2022, and the split was finalised on 6 January this year. The couple, who share two daughters—17-year-old Sunday Rose and 15-year-old Faith Margaret—remain committed to co-parenting and maintaining a strong family bond despite their separation.
As Kidman’s podcast appearance showcased her unique blend of charm and candour, it reminds her fans and followers that even Hollywood stars have down-to-earth concerns, whether it’s about on-screen chemistry or personal matters. By sharing these experiences, Kidman not only entertained her audience but also fostered a sense of connection and relatability that spans beyond the glitz and glam of the entertainment industry.
