A 36-year-old man from Florida, Francisco Javier Ravelo, is facing up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the distribution of videos that depict the torture of monkeys. The U.S. Department of Justice has confirmed that Ravelo violated the federal Animal Crushing statute, which prohibits the creation and dissemination of gruesome animal abuse content.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Ravelo was found to have distributed 42 sexually violent videos featuring both baby and adult monkeys. The disturbing footage showcased various forms of animal cruelty including mutilation and burning. These offences reportedly occurred between August 2024 and February 2025.
The complaint details Ravelo’s involvement in several chat groups on the messaging platform Telegram, where he discussed and distributed the objectionable content. He even used the moniker ‘Tony F***ing Montana’ to engage in discussions with other individuals about the videos, indicating a level of premeditation in his actions. Documents filed in the case highlight that during these chats, he was not merely an observer but an active participant in the exchange of horrific material.
The videos in question included graphic scenes of monkeys being subjected to extreme forms of torture, such as being burned with hot irons and having body parts trapped in vices.
