A Teen Was Slammed to the Ground at In-N-Out After Accidentally Splashing Woman with Water. Now His Attacker Has Been Sentenced 

A Colorado man has been sentenced following an assault that took place nearly two years ago at an In-N-Out restaurant, in which he attacked a teenager. The incident, which occurred on 4 August 2024, stemmed from a minor altercation where the teenager accidentally splashed water on a woman during what he later described as harmless horseplay with friends.

Lucas Kalisher, aged 57 and formerly the CEO of a private equity firm, was sentenced after pleading guilty to a felony charge of second-degree attempted assault, specifically strangulation. This plea came as part of an agreement reached with prosecutors, as reported by the Loveland Reporter-Herald. Initially, Kalisher faced more severe charges, including assault and child abuse; however, these were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

As part of the sentencing, which took place on 23 February, Kalisher was ordered to serve 30 months of probation. Furthermore, he is required to undergo an evaluation for anger management and complete any resulting treatment that may be deemed necessary. In addition to these requirements, Kalisher must write an apology letter to the victim, perform 120 hours of community service, and pay restitution to the teenager.

The incident was brought to the attention of the Loveland Police Department, who were dispatched that day after reports of the assault. According to the police, the teenage victim was inside the restaurant with two friends. Their playful behaviour involved splashing water on one another, which inadvertently affected an adult woman nearby. Following the incident, the teenager approached the woman’s table to apologise.

According to a police statement released at the time, the woman’s male companion reacted violently. He allegedly grabbed the teenager by the neck, forcing him down onto the table before throwing him onto the floor. Eyewitnesses reported that both the male and female left the scene before officers arrived.

In the days that followed, investigators focused on gathering witness accounts and reviewing surveillance footage from the restaurant. Their efforts led to the identification of Lucas Kalisher as the assailant in the incident.

Kalisher’s plea deal, which included the dismissal of more severe charges, highlights a broader trend in the legal system where negotiation is often favoured over lengthy court proceedings.
