Tragedy struck over the weekend at Lake Perris State Recreation Area in California when Hadi Ahmadi, 55, lost his life while saving his 7-year-old son from drowning. His wife, Mojgan Manafi, mourns the loss of her beloved husband, describing him as a loving person who always put others first.

The incident occurred when the father-son duo was kayaking on Lake Perris, and their vessel capsized, leaving them in distress. Despite the lack of life jackets, Ahmadi kept his son afloat until rescue personnel arrived. The heroic act ultimately led to Ahmadi’s untimely death, as he suffered a heart attack and drowned during the ordeal.
Manafi remembers Ahmadi as a great dad and husband, always willing to go the extra mile for his family. She recalls their last kayaking trip with fondness, noting how much joy it brought both Ahmadi and their son Arti before tragedy struck.
California State Parks responded swiftly to the distress call, recovering the unconscious Ahmadi and the distressed but conscious young boy from the water. Despite administering CPR, Ahmadi could not be revived and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to reports, Ahmadi, originally from Iran, was a skilled swimmer who regularly exercised and was in good physical condition. Medical professionals believe that he succumbed to a heart attack, highlighting the sudden and unpredictable nature of such events.
The grieving widow expressed her profound gratitude for her husband’s sacrificial act, emphasizing how he not only was her hero but also saved their son’s life. The family’s harrowing experience serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of water safety and the necessity of wearing life jackets while engaging in water activities.
As authorities continue to investigate the incident, California State Parks issued a statement extending their condolences to the bereaved family and urging all water enthusiasts to prioritize safety by wearing Coast Guard-approved life jackets at all times.
The tragic loss of Hadi Ahmadi has left a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his selfless act of bravery will forever be remembered. His legacy serves as a testament to the enduring power of a parent’s love and the ultimate sacrifice made in the face of danger.
