Move For Hunger recently made a significant impact by delivering over 680,000 meals to families in need in Nashville. The nonprofit organisation held its Music City Drop event on November 18th in downtown Nashville, where they successfully raised funds to support this impactful initiative. The event was generously sponsored by PEOPLE, Kroger, Rice Krispy Treats, Dollar General, and Apex Moving + Storage.
The Music City Drop event saw 50 participants bravely rappel down the 20-story Omni Hotel, showcasing their commitment to fighting food insecurity in the local community. Adam Lowy, the Executive Director of Move For Hunger, expressed his appreciation for the tremendous support received during the event, highlighting the unity and determination shown by both participants and sponsors in addressing the pressing issue of hunger.

In addition to the exhilarating rappelling activity, the event also featured a snack pack activation wherein volunteers assembled over 1,000 meals for those in need. These snack packs, comprising donations from Kroger, Dollar General, and Rice Krispy Treats, were promptly delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee on the following day, ensuring quick assistance to those facing food insecurity.
The overwhelming demand for food assistance necessitates ongoing support, as shared by Lowy, who mentioned that food banks are continuously reaching out for aid. The collaborative efforts of Move For Hunger and its partners play a crucial role in meeting this demand and ensuring that vulnerable families have access to essential meals.
Moreover, as a gesture to enhance the festive season for families, an additional truckload of Rice Krispies Treats bars accompanied the delivery to the food bank. The collective contributions and dedication of sponsors and volunteers reflect a deep-rooted commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those struggling with hunger.
Denine Torr, the vice president of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility for Dollar General, highlighted the significance of actively supporting hunger relief efforts, emphasising the staggering number of Americans facing food insecurity on a daily basis. The participation of diverse groups, including notable figures like the Nashville Predators’ mascot Gnash, further underscores the community’s united front against hunger.
The Music City Drop event not only raised essential funds and assembled meals but also served as a beacon of hope and solidarity for Nashville residents. The collaboration between Move For Hunger and its partners exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing critical social issues and fostering a more supportive and nourished community.
In conclusion, Move For Hunger’s impactful initiative in Nashville stands as a testament to the positive change that can be achieved through collaboration and compassion. By providing over 680,000 meals to families in need, the organisation has not only addressed immediate hunger concerns but also instilled a sense of unity and resilience in the community.
