Boy, 5, tragically dies in a devastating incident involving a train, where the driver, believed to be his uncle, attempted to cross the tracks as a barrier was down. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Fabian Riojas, was in the car with young Emilio Martinez when the driver reportedly tried to navigate around the safety barricade to beat the oncoming train. The Dodge Charger they were travelling in was struck by a Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter train, resulting in the unfortunate demise of the 5-year-old boy.
Emilio was pronounced dead at the scene, while Riojas sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Luckily, none of the 43 passengers on the train suffered injuries in the incident. The driver, Riojas, was subsequently charged with Manslaughter-Traffic Accident and taken into custody at Tarrant County Jail with a fixed bond amount.
The family of the little boy has claimed that Riojas was his uncle and was driving him home at the time of the tragic event.
