Trisha Yearwood recently opened up about the key elements that have contributed to the success of her marriage to fellow country music star, Garth Brooks. The couple is set to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in December, and Yearwood shared some heartfelt reflections at a Paley Center event discussing her new album, “Christmastime”.
During the “In Her Own Words: An Evening with Trisha Yearwood” event held at The Paley Center for Media in New York City, Yearwood, 61, reminisced about how her life took a different turn after tying the knot with Brooks, 63, back in 2005. She emphasised how transitioning from a hectic touring schedule to focusing on family life in Oklahoma was a pivotal shift for her.

“I was a bonus mom to three children and I was trying to make a marriage work,” Yearwood revealed, highlighting the importance of being present in a relationship. She stressed the significance of spending quality time together, attending family events, such as soccer games, and making an effort to connect through shared experiences like cooking dinner as a family.

Yearwood and Brooks’ love story dates back to 1987 when they first crossed paths during a demo-recording session in Nashville. Following Brooks’ divorce from his first wife, Sandy Mahl, in 2001, he and Yearwood began their romantic journey. In December 2005, they exchanged vows, solidifying their bond in marriage.
The couple’s union has not only thrived personally but professionally as well. Collaborating musically over the years, they embarked on a successful three-year world tour and even co-wrote a song together titled “For the Last Time”, featured on Yearwood’s 2019 album, “Let’s Be Frank”.
Aside from their music endeavours, Yearwood has also ventured into the culinary world, publishing four cookbooks including her latest releases, “Trisha’s Table” in 2015 and “Trisha’s Kitchen” in 2021. These endeavours showcase the couple’s shared interests and creative pursuits beyond the realm of music.
Moreover, Yearwood’s latest musical offering, “Christmastime”, was released on November 7th. The album boasts a collection of classic holiday tunes like “Christmastime Is Here”, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”, and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”. The opening track, in particular, holds a special place in Yearwood’s heart as it was the song she walked down the aisle to during their December wedding.
Yearwood’s candid revelations about navigating the ups and downs of marriage in the spotlight offer a glimpse into the dedication and commitment required to sustain a loving and enduring partnership. As they approach their milestone anniversary, the couple’s journey serves as a testament to the strength of their bond and the resilience needed to make a marriage truly flourish.
In a world where celebrity relationships often face intense scrutiny and pressure, Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks stand out as a beacon of hope, showcasing that with open communication, shared passions, and a deep love for one another, any marriage can withstand the test of time.
