A tree trimmer tragically lost his life after being discovered suspended near high-voltage power lines in Los Angeles on November 5th. The 48-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found around 30 feet above the ground and just six to eight feet below the menacing power lines, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Upon receiving the distress call at 9349 Kirkside Road in Beverlywood, firefighters rushed to the scene where they encountered the harrowing sight of the tree trimmer in a life-threatening situation. Despite efforts to rescue him, the man was pronounced dead on-site by paramedics. The local water and power authorities swiftly intervened by cutting off power in the vicinity to ensure the safety of all involved.

Both the Los Angeles Fire Department and the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner have not provided additional comments in response to inquiries made by PEOPLE at this time.
The tree-trimming industry has been identified as one of the most hazardous sectors with regard to workplace electrical fatalities, according to the Electrical Safety Foundation. Shockingly, a staggering 84% of work-related deaths in this field occur when tree trimmers come into contact with overhead power lines. It is important for workers to adhere to strict safety protocols to mitigate the risks associated with their line of work.
The foundation has emphasised the importance of maintaining a safe distance of at least 10 feet from all power lines while working, as well as utilising appropriate safety gear such as “ground-fault protection”. Moreover, constant vigilance and awareness of the surrounding power lines are critical to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent dangers faced by individuals working in occupations involving electrical hazards. As investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tree trimmer’s death continue, the community mourns the loss of a valuable life and underscores the importance of prioritising safety in all workplace environments.
