Former FBI agent, Eduardo Valdivia, 41, from Gaithersburg, Md., has been handed a 60-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting three women under false pretenses at his tattoo shop. Valdivia, who previously worked as a Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI, was convicted of six counts of second-degree rape and two counts of fourth-degree sex offense. The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office revealed that Valdivia used various aliases to entice the victims with promises of modelling opportunities.

The crimes committed by Valdivia were described by Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy as involving “maximum amounts of manipulation and deception.” Valdivia manipulated the women into visiting his tattoo studio, DC Fine Line Tattoos, by posing as different personas such as “Lalo Brown” and “L. Boogie.” Two of the victims stated that they were raped at the tattoo shop, while another disclosed a separate assault at a nearby hotel. A third victim came forward after Valdivia’s arrest, recounting a rape that occurred at a tattoo shop in Potomac in October 2022 when she was 18.
In his elaborate scheme, Valdivia even went as far as adopting the alias “Dr. Tiffany Kim” to pose as a female psychologist and the CEO of a fictional modelling agency in emails sent to two of the victims. Speaking after the sentencing hearing, John McCarthy emphasised the extent of Valdivia’s deceit, highlighting his prior FBI training in undercover operations and deception techniques. McCarthy commended the bravery of the three women for testifying against Valdivia in court and exposing his manipulative actions.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the abuse of trust and power that can occur, even from those entrusted with upholding the law. Valdivia’s actions not only violated the victims physically but also psychologically, using false promises to lure them into dangerous situations. Such cases underscore the importance of listening to and supporting survivors of assault, as well as holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
The justice system’s response to Valdivia’s heinous acts sends a strong message that abuse and exploitation will not be tolerated, regardless of the perpetrator’s background or profession. It is imperative for communities to remain vigilant and supportive of those who come forward with accounts of abuse, ensuring that they receive the necessary resources and empathy to heal from their trauma.
As the survivors bravely shared their stories in court, they demonstrated resilience in seeking justice and holding their abuser accountable. Their courage serves as an inspiration for others who may have experienced similar traumas, encouraging them to speak out and seek help. By shedding light on cases like Valdivia’s, society can work towards prevention, education, and support for survivors of assault.
