In a disturbing turn of events, a Nebraska teacher and her boyfriend have been accused of sex trafficking a student in Holdrege. The couple, Elizabeth Love, 36, and Jarid “Jack” Krause, 43, were apprehended and charged with one count each of sex trafficking a minor. Love, who also holds the position of transition coordinator and teacher of the deaf, is facing an additional count of sexual grooming as a school employee.

The investigation into Love and Krause commenced after a current high school student, under Love’s instruction, reported inappropriate interactions with the couple over recent weeks. The Holdrege Police Department revealed that the student had expressed concerns about the nature of their relationship beyond typical educational boundaries.

According to details outlined in an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, the student disclosed that she had contemplated residing with Love during weekdays to access schooling in another district. Correspondence via text, Facebook Messenger, and non-school email addresses indicated concerning conversations between the student, Love, and Krause.
One pivotal incident in August 2025 unveiled the troubling dynamics between the trio. During a car ride with Love, the student overheard a phone call where Krause expressed a desire to engage in sexual activities with Love. Shockingly, Love later conveyed her willingness to “share” Krause with the student, setting off alarm bells for the young girl.
A subsequent encounter at Love’s residence on October 11 saw Krause allegedly making inappropriate advances towards the student, prompting her to decline and seek an exit. Surveillance footage confirmed Love escorting the student home, further corroborating the incidents narrated by the student.
Further digging into the couple’s communications revealed discussions dating back to April, hinting at a premeditated plan to involve the student in their activities. Text exchanges between Love and Krause allude to a code phrase to gauge the student’s interest, emphasizing a disturbing strategy to test her boundaries.
The Holdrege Police Department urged individuals with relevant information to step forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. Love and Krause are currently detained at the Phelps County Jail on substantial cash bonds. If found guilty, they could potentially face severe legal consequences, including life imprisonment and lifetime registration as sex offenders.
The revelation of such despicable acts within an educational setting serves as a stark reminder of the imperative need for vigilance and safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. The authorities, alongside educational institutions, must remain steadfast in upholding the highest standards of integrity and safety for all students under their care.
Instances of abuse or misconduct must be promptly addressed with accountability and transparency to prevent such heinous crimes from recurring. As the legal proceedings unfold, the community grapples with the unsettling reality that perpetrators of such reprehensible acts may lurk in unexpected quarters, underscoring the necessity for enhanced vigilance and collective vigilance to safeguard the well-being of all individuals, particularly vulnerable youths.
The devastating impact of such crimes reverberates far beyond the immediate victims, necessitating a unified stance against exploitation and abuse in all its forms. By upholding principles of justice and accountability, society can strive towards a safer and secure environment for all members, free from the shackles of manipulation and exploitation.
