Matthew McConaughey has recently shared the valuable lessons he imparts to his son about nepotism. The renowned actor, aged 55, appeared on a segment of Today’s “Sunday Sitdown” with host Willie Geist, where he delved into his experience filming the new movie, ‘The Lost Bus,’ alongside his teenage son, Levi McConaughey, who is 17 years old. In the film, which follows a school bus driver depicted by Matthew who heroically rescues several children during a lethal wildfire in California, Levi portrays the son of his father’s character. Reflecting on this unique opportunity, Matthew expressed, “There was an extra, sort of soul to it for me. It felt very professional doing it with him though.”

During the interview, Matthew disclosed the approach he took with Levi in their professional collaboration. He emphasised to his son, “I can help coach you, I can help teach you what I can. But once we show up on the day, I’m not there as a safety net.” The Academy Award winner further commented on Levi’s independent approach, noting that his son did not seek validation from him but rather worked diligently with the director. Matthew proudly shared, “He’s not looking at me to go, ‘Hey, is it okay? How’d I do?’ He worked with the director and I sat back as a proud dad going, ‘There we go.'”

When quizzed about Levi’s interest in pursuing acting as a career, Matthew relayed that while he is not pressuring his son in any direction, Levi is showing a keen inclination towards the profession.
