A man has been charged with allegedly making criminal threats against the TikTok Los Angeles headquarters in the Culver City neighborhood. Joseph Jay Juant Mayuyo, aged 33, was arrested on two felony counts of making criminal threats, as confirmed by officials.
The incident unfolded on Friday, October 3 when Mayuyo reportedly made violent threats towards the TikTok L.A. headquarters on a social media platform that remains undisclosed. Upon being made aware of the threats, TikTok employees promptly informed the authorities about the concerning messages, leading to swift action from the Culver City Police Department (CCPD).

The CCPD then proceeded to identify and locate the suspect, Joseph Jay Juant Mayuyo. Subsequently, arrest and search warrants were obtained for Mayuyo’s residence.
In a coordinated effort, the CCPD’s Emergency Response Team engaged with Mayuyo, initiating contact while crisis negotiators engaged in dialogue with him. The negotiation process extended over 90 minutes, culminating in Mayuyo voluntarily exiting his residence around 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 4.
Following his surrender, Mayuyo was booked at the Culver City Police Department Jail and currently remains in custody, with bail set at $100,000. Law enforcement officials executed the search warrant at his residence, recovering items deemed as evidentiary value, as stated in the CCPD news release.
