2 Drunk Sisters Arrested on Accusations of Shoving Frontier Employee Have Meltdown in Viral Video

Two intoxicated sisters were recently arrested for allegedly shoving a Frontier Airlines employee in a viral incident that was caught on camera. The incident took place as the women were travelling from Orlando, Florida, back to their home state of New Jersey on May 15. They were charged with disorderly intoxication and battery before being referred to a pre-trial intervention program.

According to reports from the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida, the two sisters, identified as 22-year-old Kiera Lyons and 31-year-old Maura Flores, were accused of first-degree battery against a gate agent at the Orlando International Airport. The sisters, who hail from Manahawkin, N.J., were also charged with second-degree disorderly intoxication.

In newly released body camera footage from the Orlando Police Department, an officer arrived at the scene where the alleged incident occurred, finding the victim on the ground. The victim claimed that both women had pushed her, causing her to trip and fall. Other witnesses at the scene corroborated this account.

The employee involved reportedly sustained minor injuries during the altercation, as detailed in arrest affidavits obtained by PEOPLE. Despite the incident, Frontier Airlines has not responded to requests for comments on the matter. The footage shows Lyons explaining to police that she felt unwell in the bathroom before the family was asked to disembark the aircraft. Lyons alleged that a male employee had touched her chest, leading to a confrontation.

Lyons further claimed that the male employee’s actions had upset the passengers, prompting her to push the officer to demonstrate what had happened. This altercation escalated as they were exiting the plane, resulting in the gate agent being knocked to the ground. Lyons, visibly upset, mentioned her upcoming graduation and athletic commitments before being arrested.

Flores, witnessing Lyons being detained, objected to her sister’s arrest and mentioned contacting their lawyer. She later attempted to evade the police but was restrained and placed in handcuffs. The sisters were then escorted to police vehicles and taken to the station, where they were later referred to a pre-trial intervention programme.

The pre-trial intervention (PTI) program, which the women were enrolled in on September 17, is aimed at providing individuals facing charges for non-violent crimes with an opportunity to avoid the long-term consequences of a criminal conviction. Participants are required to undergo counselling, community service, educational courses, or drug/alcohol treatment, with the possibility of having charges dropped upon successful completion.

This incident highlights the consequences of unruly behaviour, especially in public settings.
