An 18-year-old teen found himself in a frightening situation when he was allegedly kidnapped and forced to play Russian roulette by his girlfriend’s family, resulting in the arrest of three individuals, as confirmed by authorities in Arkansas.

Robert Ellerd, aged 54, Jackson Homan, 23, and Charlie Holman, 20, were taken into custody on Monday, September 29, following an incident that occurred in Sherwood, Ark., the previous month. Reports state that the victim, an 18-year-old, was driving his girlfriend’s vehicle from Little Rock to Sherwood on September 20 when he was confronted by Jackson, who reportedly attempted to forcefully remove him from the car.
The situation escalated when the suspects allegedly took the teen to a different location where they proceeded to tie him to a chair and engage in playing Russian roulette with him. The victim recounted the harrowing experience of the suspects spinning the cylinder, as he was threatened and coerced into breaking up with his girlfriend under the threat of harm to his family.
The motive behind this chilling act remains unclear, but it was revealed that Ellerd is engaged to the teenager’s girlfriend’s mother, while Jackson is a friend of the girlfriend’s late brother. Disturbingly, Ellerd held the position of Director of Financial Aid at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Tech during the time of the incident, as confirmed by the college. However, the college clarified that the circumstances leading to Ellerd’s arrest are unrelated to his role at the institution.
Authorities have brought charges against Jackson for kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and making terroristic threats, while Ellerd and Charlie also face similar charges according to police reports. Despite the charges, online court records do not presently indicate plea or attorney information for the suspects.
The victim, upon being released, reported the ordeal to the police, leading to the arrests of the three individuals involved in the alleged kidnapping and threat. The incident has left the community shocked and concerned about the safety and well-being of individuals who may find themselves in similar coercive situations.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the need for vigilance and awareness of such dangerous and manipulative behaviours within relationships is emphasised. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served and to prevent such distressing occurrences from happening in the future.
In a statement, officials underscored the severity of the charges against the suspects and reassured the public that measures are being taken to address the situation effectively. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may endanger the safety and security of individuals, particularly in cases involving coercion, threats, or violence. The case serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of recognising and addressing warning signs of abusive behavior to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Although the specifics of the case are distressing, the arrests of the suspects bring hope for justice and protection for individuals who may be vulnerable to manipulation and harm in their personal relationships. The commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding individuals from coercion and violence remains a top priority for law enforcement and the community at large.
