Evenflo has announced a voluntary recall of certain models of its popular product, the Revolve360 Slim car seat, affecting over 324,000 units. The company took this action after a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration highlighted a safety concern regarding these car seats.

The issue revolves around the foam headrest of the affected car seat models, which is reportedly accessible to children. The concern is that children may pick off pieces of foam from the headrest, leading to a potential choking hazard if ingested. Evenflo’s official statement on their website stated, “When a child seated in certain Revolve360 Slim models can reach behind the cushion, pick and dislodge the foam from the headrest, it could pose a potential choking hazard if placed in the child’s mouth.”

According to the NHTSA report, there have been 11 documented cases where children were able to access the foam in the headrest and either put it in their mouth or nose. Additionally, Evenflo has received 12 reports of children accessing the foam without ingesting it. The company was made aware of this issue back in October 2023 and has taken steps to address the situation.
It is important to note that the foam itself is not declared toxic by Evenflo, and the recall does not impact the overall safety or structural integrity of the car seat in the event of a crash. The recall specifically affects models sold in the United States and Canada with model numbers starting with 3681. To identify whether their car seat is part of the recall, parents can locate the model number on the product label at the back of the car seat shell.
In response to the recall, Evenflo is providing customers with a free recall repair kit. The kit will contain detailed instructions along with a special tape seal that parents can use to cover the foam access points in the affected car seats. These repair kits are expected to be shipped out in early November to address the safety issue.
While waiting for the repair kit to arrive, Evenflo advises families to continue using their car seats, as long as children cannot access the foam headrest. Once the repair kit is received, parents are encouraged to follow the provided instructions to apply the protective tape around the headrest as a safety measure. The company emphasises that car seats should not be returned to retailers due to the recall.
All in all, Evenflo is actively working to resolve this safety concern and prioritise the well-being of their customers. By offering free repair kits and clear instructions, the company aims to ensure that the affected car seats are made safer for children. Parents are urged to stay informed about product recalls and take necessary actions to address any potential hazards promptly.
