In what can only be described as the royal event of the summer, Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein has officially tied the knot. The 28-year-old princess said her ‘I dos’ to Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer on a beautiful August 30, 2025, in a picturesque church wedding at the Cathedral of Vaduz in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. The Princely House of Liechtenstein had initially announced the couple’s engagement in October 2024, with plans for a late summer wedding.

The stunning bride, Princess Marie Caroline, looked every bit the timeless royal in a white gown adorned with delicate sheer lace details and short sleeves. Adding a touch of regal elegance, she accessorised her ensemble with heirloom royal jewelry and a sweeping veil fit for a princess. Princess Marie Caroline chose to wear the iconic Habsburg Fringe Tiara for her special day, a piece of jewellery with a rich history dating back to 1890. Notably, this tiara holds sentimental value as it was the same one worn by her late grandmother, Princess Marie, on her wedding day in 1967.
The bride further enhanced her bridal look with statement diamond drop earrings, adding even more shimmer to her attire. These earrings have been donned by Princess Marie and Princess Sophie in the past, further cementing the tradition of passing down heirloom jewellery within the royal family of Liechtenstein. Princess Marie Caroline is the second child and only daughter of Prince Alois and Princess Sophie, with three brothers. Her wedding mass was conducted by notable religious figures, including His Excellency Bishop Mag. Dr Benno Elbs.
Escorted down the aisle by her father, Prince Alois, the future reigning prince of Liechtenstein, Princess Marie Caroline exchanged vows with Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer against the backdrop of a heartwarming ceremony. The nuptial mass was accompanied by beautiful music performed by the St Florin Vaduz Church Choir and Schola St Florin. The celebration was attended by the couple’s close friends and family, as well as dignitaries including the President and Vice-President of the Landtag, government officials, and the mayor of Vaduz.
Following the heartfelt ceremony, the newlyweds sealed their love with a kiss on the steps of the cathedral, reminiscent of a true fairy tale moment. The festivities continued with a reception held at the majestic Vaduz Castle, the private residence of the royal family of Liechtenstein. Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo, who are based in London, have embarked on a new chapter in their lives together. Princess Marie Caroline works in the fashion industry while Leopoldo is involved in investment management.
Liechtenstein, a small German-speaking principality with a population of approximately 40,000, is a constitutional hereditary monarchy governed by the reigning prince and a democratically elected Parliament. Princess Marie Caroline’s father, Prince Alois, has assumed the role of head of state since 2004, although her grandfather, Prince Hans-Adam II, retains the title of sovereign. The royal family has long been an integral part of Liechtenstein’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The royal wedding of Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer marks a joyous occasion not only for the couple but also for the people of Liechtenstein. As they begin their married life together, their union symbolises love, tradition, and a promising future. With their shared commitment and bond, Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo embark on a journey filled with hope and happiness, supported by the enduring legacy of the Liechtenstein royal family.
