The hunt for Travis Decker intensifies as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently closed down the Rock Island Campground in Leavenworth, Wash. The campground, where Decker’s three daughters – Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia, aged 9, 8, and 2 respectively – were tragically murdered, is now at the center of a multi-agency investigation involving various law enforcement agencies.

Travis Decker, 32, has been on the run for nearly three months since the gruesome incident at the campground on June 2. Despite the extensive search efforts, authorities have yet to find any evidence indicating his whereabouts or status. The FBI, along with agencies such as the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol, Washington State Patrol, Wenatchee Police Department, and U.S. Marshals, are working together to track down the fugitive father.

The closure of the Rock Island Campground to the public has been extended until Wednesday, Aug. 27, to allow the FBI to conduct further investigations at the crime scene. Decker had taken his three daughters to the campground following a court-approved custody visit on May 30. However, he failed to return the girls as ordered by the court, prompting their mother, Whitney Decker, to report them missing later that day.
Tragically, on June 2, the bodies of Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia were discovered at the campground. The children had plastic bags over their heads, and nearby, several cable ties were found. It was only after a member of the search party stumbled upon Decker’s abandoned truck that the girls’ bodies were uncovered. Inside the vehicle, Decker’s belongings were found, alongside his unharmed dog.
A medical examination revealed that the cause of death for the three sisters was asphyxiation, with the deaths ruled as homicides. The investigation further confirmed that the only DNA present at the crime scene belonged to Decker and his daughters. The enforced closures within a four-mile radius of the campground are part of the ongoing efforts to locate Decker.
Travis Decker, a former military member with tactical training, is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities suspect he may have fled to Canada based on pre-disappearance internet searches. Despite reported sightings that were later debunked, the hunt for Decker continues with a $20,000 reward offered by U.S. Marshals for any information leading to his arrest.
The tragic case unfolded following Decker’s divorce from his wife in 2023, after which his mental health struggles were highlighted in court documents. Before the incident, there were no indications of violent tendencies. The community remains on high alert as law enforcement agencies strive to bring closure to the devastating loss of the Decker sisters.
As the manhunt for Travis Decker continues, authorities are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward promptly. The Rock Island Campground serves as a somber reminder of the heinous crime that took the lives of three innocent children, prompting a relentless pursuit for justice.
