In a shocking revelation, Grace Kelley, the daughter of country music star Wynonna Judd, has come forward to accuse her mother of being complicit in covering up the sexual abuse inflicted by her ex-stepfather. Grace Kelley, now 29 years old, disclosed to The Daily Progress in July about the abuse she suffered at the hands of D. R. Roach, whom Judd was married to from 2003 to 2007. The abuse came to light when Roach was arrested and charged with sexual battery against a minor in 2007, leading Judd to file for divorce shortly after.
Kelley, who was just 10 years old at the time of the abuse, shared that her mother initially tried to address the situation through counselling with hopes of salvaging the family. However, as the extent of Roach’s abuse unravelled during therapy, the situation escalated, eventually leading to his arrest and subsequent divorce. Kelley expressed her disappointment, stating, “So is my mum rich? Yeah, she’s so rich that she was able to sweep me under the rug and abuse me and then cover it all up.”

Despite Judd’s current lack of response to these allegations, the Grammy-winning artist is currently caring for Kelley’s 3-year-old daughter, Kaliyah, alongside her son Elijah, 30. Kelley herself has encountered various legal troubles over the years, with three arrests in 2024, and recently serving a six-week jail term. She has since relocated to Charlottesville, Va., where she is focusing on her sobriety and spirituality, indicating a positive turn in her life.
Kelley’s tumultuous experiences have led her to reflect on her past, prompting her to work on a memoir titled “Pronoia” that delves into the complexities of her life. Despite the challenges she has faced, she remains resolute in telling her story and finding her voice. The journey towards healing and self-discovery seems to be a crucial theme in Kelley’s narrative, as she emerges from a troubled past seeking a brighter future.
Roach’s name is still linked to his crimes, with his status as an active offender against children noted in the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Having pleaded guilty to criminal attempts of aggravated sexual battery in 2007, the repercussions of his actions continue to haunt those impacted by his abuse. Judd, who remarried in 2012 to Cactus Moser, has been candid about the aftermath of her divorce from Roach, highlighting her fierce protection of her children while navigating through a challenging period in her life.
The ordeal has also shed light on Judd’s own experiences with sexual abuse, as she shared in the documentary “The Judd Family: Truth Be Told.” Opening up about being molested at the age of 12, she candidly spoke about the impact it had on her relationship with her own sexuality, emphasising the importance of confronting and healing from past traumas. Judd’s resilience and commitment to moving forward from her past experiences mirrors her daughter’s journey towards reclaiming her voice and narrative.
As the tangled web of allegations and revelations continues to unfold, the narratives of Wynonna Judd and Grace Kelley offer a poignant reflection on the complexities of familial relationships and the enduring strength of those who strive to overcome adversity. Their stories serve as testaments to the power of resilience and the unwavering pursuit of healing and redemption.
