Cardi B, the renowned rapper, has found herself in legal trouble as she faces a lawsuit for alleged battery by a woman stemming from an incident at a 2023 performance. The lawsuit, filed in the Eighth Judicial Court in Clark County, Nevada, revolves around an episode during a performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on July 29, 2023. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, claims that she was hit by a microphone thrown by Cardi B during the performance, leading to emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury.
Jane Doe, an Ohio native who was on a solo trip to Las Vegas, attended Cardi B’s headlining performance at Drai’s Beachclub when the incident occurred. According to the lawsuit, Cardi B, while on stage under high-temperature conditions, requested the audience to splash water on her. A viral clip from the concert showed Cardi encouraging the crowd to splash her, with explicit statements. The lawsuit alleges that Cardi’s actions implied consent and participation in the act of splashing water.

The lawsuit details that Jane Doe, in line with the environment and other attendees, splashed a small amount of her drink towards Cardi B. However, the situation took a turn when Cardi allegedly reacted in apparent anger by forcefully throwing her microphone at Jane Doe. The lawsuit claims that the microphone made physical contact with Jane Doe, resulting in offensive and unconsented physical contact, causing physical injury and immediate apprehension.
Alleging assault, battery, and negligence, Jane Doe asserts that Cardi B’s actions were excessive, disproportionate, and caused severe emotional distress, humiliation, and physical harm. The lawsuit also names Drai’s Management Group, where the performance took place, for negligence. The complaint highlights a prior incident where Cardi allegedly threw her microphone at a DJ during another performance, raising concerns about the foreseeability of repeat violent conduct.
In response to the lawsuit, Cardi B’s attorney, Drew Findling, dismissed the claims as a “transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown.” He pointed out that the authorities had closed the criminal battery investigation due to insufficient evidence. Despite the legal proceedings, Cardi B’s representative and Findling have yet to comment on the ongoing situation.
Jane Doe, in her statement shared with the media, expressed her pursuit of justice to hold Cardi B accountable for the alleged misdeeds, emphasizing the impact it has had on her well-being and life quality. The incident serves as a reminder that even celebrities are subject to legal accountability for their actions, irrespective of their status in society.
As the case unfolds, it brings to light the complexities of legal battles involving high-profile individuals, shedding light on the importance of addressing grievances through the appropriate legal channels. The outcome of this lawsuit will likely set a precedent for similar cases in the entertainment industry, underscoring the significance of upholding accountability and justice.
