Laura Caron, a former fifth-grade teacher from New Jersey, is facing serious charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly having a baby with a boy who was just 13 when she gave birth.

The student’s father, in a Facebook post, noted the resemblance between Caron’s 5-year-old child and his son, leading to suspicions about their involvement. The father disclosed to authorities that both his sons were taught by Caron in the fifth grade, and his wife had formed a friendship with the teacher over the years.

The situation escalated to the point where the children, including the alleged victim, started staying at Caron’s residence regularly from 2016 to 2020. The victim’s sister disclosed to the police that her brother began sharing a bed with Caron when he was just 11 years old. Moreover, she claimed that Caron would intrude on the boy while he was taking a shower and engage in concerning behaviour.

Allegations were raised that the victim admitted via text message to being the father of Caron’s child but wished to keep it a secret to protect the teacher from trouble. The investigation further revealed that the victim acknowledged having frequent sexual encounters with Caron during his time at her home, maintaining contact until the Facebook post exposed their relationship.

In June, Caron faced a grand jury indictment with charges including first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and second-degree endangerment of a child. Despite the serious claims, Caron reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges, as per the New York Post. It remains unclear at this point whether she has secured legal representation to defend her case.
