**Law Student Allegedly Creates Porn Using AI of Fellow Students — Attempted Apology**

A student at the University of Hong Kong is under investigation for allegedly using AI technology to generate pornographic images of female classmates, teachers, and acquaintances without their consent. The privacy watchdog in Hong Kong initiated a criminal investigation after several alleged victims came forward on Instagram to expose the incident.
According to reports, the student, only identified as X, admitted to using AI tools to create pornographic images of up to 30 individuals, with more than 700 such images organised into folders named after the people depicted. Despite the severity of his actions, X reportedly only apologised in person to two victims, downplaying the total number of victims to five during the apologies.
After some of the victims raised concerns about being in class with the student, the university allegedly responded by stating that the student’s actions did not violate any policies, and therefore, they could not discipline him. Subsequently, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong announced an investigation to look into the matter further.
The university issued a warning letter to the student and demanded a formal apology to the alleged victims. In a statement, the university acknowledged the social media posts regarding the incident and assured that they have taken measures to address the students’ well-being, including making class adjustments as needed.
