Former NFL star, JJ Watt, and his wife, Kealia Ohai Watt, have stepped up to support the victims of the recent Texas flooding disaster by donating $100,000 towards a meal delivery fundraiser aimed at aiding those impacted by the devastating flash floods that ravaged communities across Texas’ Hill Country during the Fourth of July weekend.

The high-profile couple made their donation to a GoFundMe campaign initiated by Grape Juice restaurant, situated in Kerrville, Texas, on Sunday, July 6. At the time of reporting, the fundraiser had amassed a total of $134,533, a substantial portion of which was contributed by JJ and Kealia.
In the past, JJ Watt had demonstrated his commitment to philanthropy by establishing a foundation to assist individuals displaced by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Through the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, he played a pivotal role in raising over $41 million by August 2018, as reported by ESPN.
The beneficiaries of JJ and Kealia’s recent donation, Heidi Kucera and Daric Easton, the co-owners of Grape Juice restaurant, expressed their gratitude through social media posts, highlighting their efforts in providing meals to first responders, displaced flood survivors, and anyone in need of assistance in securing food supplies.
Videos and images shared by Kucera and Easton depicted the extensive preparations undertaken by their team, which included the provision of various food items such as pounds of spaghetti with meat sauce and numerous sandwiches since the onset of the crisis on July 4.
Moreover, in addition to organising meal distribution, the restaurant owners have facilitated donations for essential supplies like cleaning materials and protective gear to assist individuals involved in the debris clearance operations in the aftermath of the flooding.
As of Monday, July 7, reports indicated that at least 94 individuals had tragically lost their lives due to the floods, with Kerr County bearing the brunt of the devastation, accounting for 75 fatalities. Camp Mystic, a local establishment, also confirmed that 27 campers and counsellors had succumbed to the disaster.
