Cobra Kai’s Martin Kove Issues Public Apology for Biting Co-Star Alicia Hannah-Kim

Cobra Kai actor Martin Kove has issued a public apology to his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim following an incident where he allegedly bit her at a fan convention, as reported by TMZ. The altercation took place on June 22, and despite the severity of the incident, Hannah-Kim chose not to press charges against Kove.
In his statement to TMZ, Kove, 78, expressed deep regret for his actions towards Alicia, acknowledging that he had crossed a line during what he described as a playful moment. He emphasised his respect for Hannah-Kim as a professional and talented colleague on the show Cobra Kai. Kove admitted that his behaviour was inexcusable and apologised to Alicia and her husband for the distress caused.
The incident occurred at the Summer Con event in Washington, where Hannah-Kim, 37, approached the Cobra Kai cast at their booth. Allegedly, when she tapped Kove on the shoulder in greeting, he responded with an unprovoked attack, biting her upper arm so forcefully that it almost drew blood. The situation escalated when Kove proceeded to kiss the same spot on Hannah-Kim’s arm where he had bitten her.
Upon realising the severity of the situation, Hannah-Kim and her husband, Sebastian Roche, confronted Kove about his actions. However, Kove reportedly denied any wrongdoing and became defensive. Subsequently, Hannah-Kim sought assistance from on-site law enforcement, who observed a visible bite mark on her arm that was already showing signs of bruising.
Despite the distressing nature of the incident, Hannah-Kim opted not to pursue legal action against Kove but requested an official report for documentation purposes. She and her husband provided statements and were assigned a case number by the authorities. Netflix, the network behind Cobra Kai, and representatives for both Hannah-Kim and Kove have not yet issued public statements regarding the incident.
Martin Kove is best known for his role as John Kreese in the original Karate Kid film series and its spinoff, Cobra Kai. Hannah-Kim joined the cast in later seasons as Kim Da-Eun. The pair’s on-screen dynamic will undoubtedly face scrutiny in light of these off-screen events.
