Mia Sara, the beloved actress known for her role in the classic 1986 film ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’, recently revealed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that she hasn’t watched the movie in many years and is not in regular contact with the cast. The now 57-year-old star portrayed the iconic character Sloane Peterson in the cult favourite alongside Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck. Despite the enduring popularity of the film, Sara confessed that she finds it uncomfortable to watch herself on screen, stating, “It’s not really fun to watch yourself. It’s not really fun.”

During the COVID pandemic, the cast of ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ came together for a virtual reunion over Zoom, giving Sara the chance to reconnect with her former co-stars. Reflecting on this experience, Sara mentioned, “We did a reunion thing during COVID — there was a reunion thing, which was nice. It was nice to see everybody.” While reminiscing about her time on set, the actress shared that her favourite memory was filming the vibrant parade scene, where her character, along with Ferris and Cameron, danced exuberantly to the tune of ‘Twist and Shout’.

She candidly shared, “I started [cooking] when I was really young and I met my husband, and I just felt like I kind of [needed] to get a life. And I got a really, really good one. So that’s what I’ve been doing.”
